Mrs. Mary Belle Simpson Burk, 57, died suddenly at
her home on Josephine St., McKinney, Sunday morning October 14, 1928, at
She had been in ill health for a long time, and had
been subject to heart attacks. While her passing was not altogether unexpected,
yet it cast a pall of sorrow over her many friends and relatives.
The deceased was born December 3, 1870 in this county.
She was a daughter of the late John A. Simpson and Susan Whitaker Simpson.
She was married to Mack G. Burk, at Vernon, Texas, December 24, 1890. Her
husband survives her.
She is also survived by two sons, Roscoe Burk, of
McKinney, and Garrett Burk, address unknown. Also surviving her are two
brothers, Ed. Simpson, of Ralls, Texas and Walter Simpson of Pilot Point.
By one sister, Mrs. Alice Christian, of McLean, Texas. The deceased had
lived in McKinney for the past 16 years, her husband being in the insurance
business at that city. Mrs. Burk was born west of Van Alstyne and lived
there prior to their moving to McKinney. She was converted and joined the
Christian Church in 1899.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the
First Christian Church at Van Alstyne, conducted by Dr. Clifford S. Weaver
and Elder ?.C.Horn, both of McKinney. Interment was in Van Alstyne cemetery.
