HOWE - Services for Mrs. Vie Akins, 88, who died Saturday in a Van Alstyne nursing home, will be at 2 p.m. Monday from Howe First Methodist Church. Burial will be in Van Alstyne Cemetery under direction of Flesher Funeral Home.
Born in Kentucky Aug. 19, 1880, she later was married to the late Luther Akins. Mrs. Akins was a member of the Howe Methodist Church.
The family will be at the chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bob Goolsby and Mrs. Luther Cavender, both of Van Alstyne; two sons, Murray Akins of Howe and Euilee Akins of Van Alstyne; and eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
