HARRY DOUGLAS LAID TO REST HERE THUESDAY
Memorial services for Harry ? Douglas, 46, were held in the First
Christian Church here Tuesday morning at 10, conducted by the pastor, Rev.
Ken Britt. Serving as active pallbearers were his cousins, Roy Pitt of
Oklahoma City; Paul Pitt of Texas City, Lloyd Douglas of Denton, Bill Douglas
and Glen Douglas of Sherman, and Weldon Bowen of Gunter. Interment was
in the Van Alstyne City Cemetery under the direction of the Flesher Funeral
Home.
Mr. Douglas passed away in the Memorial Hospital in Midland last
Saturday at 4:15 p.m. Funeral services were held Monday morning at ten
in the First Christian Church of Midland, of which the deceased was a member
and a deacon. His pastor praised his sterling character and his usefulness
in the church as well as ten years work in various Boy Scout activities.
Mr. Douglas was born in Van Alstyne on Dec. 27, 1912, a son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Douglas. He was reared here, being a graduate
of Van Alstyne High School, and then received his degree in pharmacy at
the Capitol School of Pharmacy Denver, Colorado. While employed in a pharmacy
in Durant, Oklahoma, he was united in marriage in 1936 with Miss Florence
Teague. The family lived in MIdland the past eight years, during which
Mr. Douglas was a salesman representing the Behren Drug Co. He is survived
by his wife, by two sons, Dan and Tommy; and by two brothers, John Douglas
and Bo Douglas, both of Van Alstyne.
