Funeral Friday for Man, Son Killed in Crash
Joint funeral services will be held in Van Alstyne, Grayson County,
Friday for Howard L. Hartley, 40-year-old farmer, and his 3-month-old son,
Anthony, who were killed Tuesday in an automobile accident on the Beckley
Overpass at Ledbetter Drive.
The services will be held at 3 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Van
Alstyne. Burial will be in the Van Alstyne Cemetery.
Surviving are Hartley's wife; two other children, Tommy Wayne and
Howard Larry; his mother, Mrs. Rose Hartley of Dallas; a sister, Mrs. John
H. Randolph of Dallas; four brothers, J.T. Hartley of Shreveport, La.;
Woodrow A. Hartley of Dallas; William F. Hartley of Ennis; and Lawrence
J. Hartley of Terrell, Kaufman County.
The Hartley automobile collided with a tractor-trailer truck on
the Beckley Overpass, killing Hartley instantly. The child died several
hours later. Mrs. Hartley and the other two children were injured.
Douglas S. Ivey, 18, of Bebe, Gonzales County, driver of the truck, was
charged with negligent homicide.
