Dallas Morning News - 5 Sep 1898 - Died at the Dinner Table
Sherman, Tex., Sep 4-To-day ast the dinner table Ephraim Carpenter,
aged 86, expired suddenly and without a struggle. He had just finished
the 'grace' , as had been his custom for many years, and had taken a single
mouthful of food when he gently sand down and was dead before those nearest
him could render the last assistance. He was weak from recent illness which
had preyed heavily upon his shattered constitution. He resided with his
son, Butler Carpenter, three miles West of the city.
