One of the original Peters Colonists who came from Madison Co., TN with his wife Nancy J. (Sturdivant?) and several children to a 613 acre site just east of Sherman in 1839.  He bought and sold several parcels of land in the area in the next few years, and in 1853 purchased a couple of adjacent parcels in the Joseph Strickland Survey further west.
This is what is considered the old Brogdon homeplace, and is the site of the Brogdon Cemetery.
