BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES
BALL, James Price:  Mayor of Collinsville was born at Georgetown, Pettus County, Mo. in 1864.  His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. C. Ball and Jim was the third of four sons.  His brothers were George, Trusten and Robert.  He has been in the saddle ever since he was ten years old, in his words.  His chief occupation has been trading cattle.  In 1892 he married Miss Rosa McMenamy, who was born in Dallas County in 1872 and moved with her parents to Whitesboro when Rosa was only a year old.  They have two sons, Home who lives at Lubbock, and Robert, Memphis, Tenn.  Mr. and Mrs. Ball lived three miles north of Collinsville until 1904, when they moved into the township.  They have lived in the town proper for 27 years, and the past 24 years of which they have lived at the present home.  Other than cattle trading, Mr. Ball is interested in chickens.  Mrs. Ball's hobbies is raising flowers.  Mr. Ball is now serving his second term as mayor of Collinsville, having filled out the unexpired term of his predecessor and then being elected to the office.  He has always served as alderman, and has at all time stood for those things which meant advancement for Collinsville.  In reminiscing, Mr. Ball recalled the old days when horse stealing was the worst crime that could be committed.  He also spoke of the good old days when a man's word was his bond; there was no such thing as a mortgage and a man would lend a friend in need a hundred dollars without having to worry about its being paid back.  He knew that he would be paid as soon as the man was able to get it.
