deCORDOVA Family: F. R. - Frank - was born in Kimble County of Bosque, Texas, January 17, 1872.  He lived in Kimble for about 12 years, after which time he moved with his father to St. Louis, Missouri.  His father was then secretary-treasurer as well as field representative of the Great Western Glass Works of St. Louis.  Mr. deCordova lived in St. Louis with his father for a number of years until he left to attend school in Oklahoma.

His father moved to Collinsville in 1888 and established the W. F. deCordova Mercantile business here.  Mr. deCordova was associated with his father in this business for a number of years.

He was married in July 1903 to Miss Rosa Pelphrey of Collinsville.  There were two boys born into this union, R.M. and William F. deCordova.  Mr. deCordova has been associated with some kind of business since coming to Collinsville.  He entered the drug business here in 1908, on the south side of the square.  He later sold this establishment and became connected with the oil business.  He was with the Jordan Creek Oil and Gas Company, of which organization he was elected president.  This company was formed by the local citizens, and Mr. deCordova was president of the organization that drilled the first oil well in this part of the country.  He served with the oil company for about four years then entered the drug business again.  He bought out the Wooten interests here, and has been engaged in the drug business since that time.  Mr. deCordova served on the school board for a number of years, and also served as one of the directors of a bank here for a number of years.  He is a "real live wire" when it comes to taking part in any civic improvement of civic interest of Collinsville.  He is "FOR COLLINSVILLE FIRST" and is always willing to serve in any capacity to which he may be elected to promote something for the good of the community. (died 1962).
