Dishman, John W. was born in Kentucky in 1952, and moved to Cherokee County in 1853.  He lived here for about two years.  They then moved about ten miles south of Fort Worth in Tarrant County, and lived there for about four years.  He moved to Collinsville in 1859 and has lived here since then.  In speaking of the early times, Mr. Dishman recalled the hard times that the people had to endure here during the early days.  He recalled that the people of the early times here did not have any of the conveniences that are enjoyed by the people here today.  Mr. Dishman and Miss Jennie Fisher were married here in Collinsville.  To this couple were born 12 children, eight of whom are still living.  They are: Mrs. Hattie Pryor, Roy Dishman, Miss Naomi Dishman, Miss Clara Dishman all of Collinsville; Ara Morris, Mauva Reece both of Dallas; Mamie Ball, Brownwood, and Eula Keith of Pilot Point. (died 1940)
