Dove, A.M. was born in Tennessee in 1862 and came to Wood County, Texas in 1865 with his parents when he was a small boy.  The family then moved to Collinsville and Mr. Dove has lived in this community since that time.  He is the father of three children:  Mrs. Maw Williams, Ed and Oscar Dove, all of Collinsville.  It was on Mr. Dove's place southwest of Collinsville that the first oil well in this vicinity was drilled.  Land was leased to the Jordan Creek Oil and Gas Company of Collinsville and the drilling was done by the Young Drilling Company of Wichita Falls, Texas.  The well was drilled to a depth of about 2,000 feet.  Ed Dove, one of the sons was born in Cooke County in 1892.  He has lived here practically all of his life.  He married in 1911 and is the father of three children: Stella Mae, Alden and Meriel Dove, all of Collinsville.  One of the pioneer families in this country and very active in building up the country, this family has been one of the leading families of this section for 60 years.
