ROBERT L. BLANTON
FORMER GRAYSON COUNTY MAN DIED AT CANADIAN
FUNERAL IN SHERMAN
Robert L. Blanton, age 40, died Saturday morning after
a brief illness at his home in Canadian, Hemphill county. the remains
will arrive in Sherman over the Frisco at midnight, accompanied by the
family, and the funeral
service will take place Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the home of Mrs. G.W.
Kimbrough, 600 North Crockett street, Rev. Hugh Anderson, minister of Key
Memorial church, officiating.
Friday morning Miss Dorothy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Blanton, who had been visiting her kinspeople in the Kimbrough home, was
advised of her father's serious illness. She left at once in company
with Miss Hazel
Kimbrough, for Canadian.
Deceased was reared near Bells, Grayson county, and
married Miss Mary Kimbrough in 1906. In 1913 the family moved west,
where deceased had been in the automobile business.
The deceased is survived by the wife, two daughters,
Dorothy and Helen, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Blanton, living near
Whitewright, and several brothers and sisters.
He was a member of the Methodist church, the Masonic
and Odd Fellows lodges.
His good qualities of mind and heart attracted many
friendships. These are in sorrow today with the family over his going
away in the meridian of life. Interment will be in West Hill cemetery.
NOTICE TO MASONS
Master Masons of Sherman are requested to meet Masonic
hall at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Shortly before 3 o'clock
all will go in a body to the funeral of R.L. Blanton, who died in West
Texas and whose funeral will be held at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at
the home of Mrs. G.W. Kimbrough, 600 North Crockett street.
(Researcher's note: Robert L. "Bob" Blanton was
the son of Benjamin F. "Frank" Blanton and Julia Ann Blanton. His
paternal grandparents were Benjamin Edward Blanton and Mary Feagans of
Rutherford Co., NC. His maternal grandparents were Stephen Fletcher
Blanton and Sarah McDaniel.)
