Young Farmer Killed by Bolt of Lightning
Special to the News; Sherman, Tex., March 28-
"Funeral services will be held Tuesday for Ernest Sam Blanton, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. T.B. Blanton of Mahurin, near savoy, who was killed by lightning Sunday night at the farm of his parents. He had gone to the pasture to drive a cow to the barn and was on the way back when killed. The farm is located between Savoy and Whitewright. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery at Whitewright.Born in Uvalde County he came to Grayson County sixteen years ago. He attended Mahurin and Walnut Bend schools, graduating at the latter school in Cook County in 1933.
He is survived by his parents; five brothers, Roland, Ewing, Irvin, Emmett, and Clarence, all at home; three sisters, Mrs. J.L. May and Mrs. Raymond Wait of Mahurin, and Mrs. Virgil Ware of Gainesville."
