Potts Cemetery
Unmarked Slave Cemetery and Newer section
Amount of graves unknown, it may extend under the lake
Original tombstones would have been wooden or field rock.
Floods have covered it several times
 

Today it is located on Austin College property~ Lake Texoma 

 

This hill was covered with graves, how many no one today knows.

Hummie Potts born Mar 15, 1896  died Jan 20, 1907.  Her headstone reads:  "Weep not Papa and Mama. For soon the Savior will call for me"

Louis McClure died Dec 28, 1902 aged 70 years  "At Rest"  (This headstone has fallen from the base and lies flat on the ground)

Solomon Ingraham born Mar 13 1881 died Sep 6, 1900  This is an oblisque type marker that is shared with his wife Lucy.

Lucy Ingraham born Apr 3, 1883 died Aug 26, 1900.

Home made marker of iron ore stone.  The only inscription ledgible is EALLE or FALLE. 

No writing on a cement marker


Picknic area sits on the cemetery hill.
