Diamond Cemetery Photographs
by   Don & Nancy Beck
View the Historical Makers and Info, placed after the restoration and formation of the Pioneer Park
Diamond Cemetery Whitesboro, Texas.
    A Texas Historical Marker was placed on this property, although its information sadly is incorrect. An attempt is being made by a descendant to have it corrected. This property is being restored by a Mr. Carroll Brown a resident of Whitesboro.  John R. Diamond had two brothers who were signers of the secession of Texas from the Union they were James Jackson Diamond and William Winfield Diamond. The Diamonds were a politically active family and James J. was involved in the Gainesville hangings episode. Both men died in the yellow fever epidemic in Houston in 1867 I think.
Their younger brother George  W. Diamond wrote the account of the hangings which was so controversial.

Diamond family members buried in Diamond Cemetery are:
John Roberson Diamond & wife Emeline Rebecca Turner Diamond
And their children: William W.; Georgia; Mary J.; John W. ;
Eli F.; Susanna & Lizzie.
