Union Soldier Burials

VIRGINIA POINT CHURCH
1/4 mi. west of the Virginia Point
Methodist Church, four Union soldiers died of typhoid and were buried on the north side of the
road. The Virginia Point Church was burned after it served as a hospital for
them.
"The Virginia Point church was burned during the civil
war because the Union
troops that camped there had typhoid fever. The first church building was
made from logs hauled
from Jefferson Texas in wagons." Note from Jerry Durham |
