COTTON GINNING TIME BRINGS OUT GRAYSON COUNTY FARMERS
This cotton gin at Ethel, photographed in 1898, shows how Grayson
County farmers brought their produce to town. Horse-drawn wagons
carried the cotton to the remote gin in the southwestern part of the county.
The tall smokestack at the right eliminated smoke produced from the cotton
burrs. Cotton was a major crop in early days.
