Body Found by Wheat Shock, Poison Bottle Near By, Is Identified.
With and(sic) empty bottle near by the body of an elderly man was
found near Highway 75 south of Sherman and tentatively identified as that
of George Stokes, Dallas, Route 7. The man
was dressed in new work clothing. He had prepared himself a resting place
beside the shock of wheat. The body being discovered by Tom Durning, farmer
living near Van Alstyne.
The empty bottle lying near the body bore the label from a Dallas
drug store, which was traced and revealed the above name and address, the
bottle having been sold June 24. Drug store employee's said the purchaser
had told them he intended to use the acid in cleaning a chicken house.
The body was buried at the Grayson County
Farm after Dallas police reported wednesday that no one name stokes
was living at the address given.
