Samuel W. Godsey and Laura Prudence Johnson
Godsey with their family around 1907 in Van Zandt County, Texas..
My grandmother, Arrissa Octavie Godsey(1906-1949) she died 2 years before
I was born, is on Laura's lap. Around the picture is Ola Godsey (1889-abt
1922, she died shortly after childbirth) with her husband Harrison Z. Price
and he is holding their first child (whose name I don't have, he died shortly
after this picture was taken), next is Arvie Godsey (1890 -), next to Samuel
is Epsie Godsey (1900-1930) she died young and her parents raised some
of her children, on the other side of Samuel is Earnest Godsey (1896-1961),
in front of him is Carrie Godsey (1893-1969). That is it. They
were not famous or rich, but lived honest lives and all their days in Texas.
Laura Johnson's grandfather Hampton Hansford Hanks(1807-1894)
fought in the Texas War with Mexico for the independence of Texas.
He is listed in the same company as Sam Houston.
