MRS. SARAH MILDRED HATFIELD, 67, died at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. W.A. Parham, at Pottsboro at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday after an extended
illness. She had lived in Sherman 21 years and in Texas 43 years.
Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday
at the Dannel-Scott Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Hugh Bumpas, pastor
of the East Sherman Baptist church. Interment is to be in Georgetown
cemetery northwest of Pottsboro beside her husband, W.C. (Bll) Hatfield,
who died in July, 1926.
Mrs. Hatfield was born Aug. 1, 1869, near Campbellsville,
Ky., the daughter of Joshua and Mary Frances Cowherd. She came to
Texas at the age of 14, living near Elmont, where she obtained her education.
She and Mr. Hatfield were married Dec 3, 1889, at Pottsboro. She
was a member of the East Sherman Baptist church.
Surviving relatives include four sons, Roy E. Hatfield
of Denison, Ted C. Hatfield of Houston, Lee Hatfield of Nocona and E.M.
Hatfield of ?, three daughters, Mrs. Parham, Mrs. G.C. Hale, of Woodville,
Okla., and Mrs. Lee Howdeshell of Sherman; one brother T.? Cowherd of Denison,
one sister, Mrs. W.E. Bowan? of Royse City, 30 grandchildren and
four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be the following grandsons: Randolph
Parham, Stinson Hatfield, Sidney Hatfield, E.M. Hatfield, Jr., Roy Hatfield
and Coy Hatfield. View
