Fred A. Meierant
   Fred A. Meierant, 83 of 1018 Shady Lane Court, Wellington, retired Santa
Fe chief clerk, died at 6:53 p.m. Friday, April 16, in a local hospital.
    He was born April 24,1891 at LaGrange, Mo. He came to Wellington from
Amarillo, Tex on January 1, 1923. His railway career began at Milan, mo.,
with the Qunicy, Omaha and Kansas City Railway. He later worked for the
Norfolk Nebraska with Chicago and Northwestern Railway and then with the
Santa Fe in Wellington. He had a total of 48 yeas and seven months of
railway career.
    He was married to Rubye Pearl Blanton on October 30,1915, at Amarillo,
Texas. She died April 10,1973.  Mr. Meierant was a member of Masonic Lodge
No. AF&AM Phoenix Chapter No 139 Order of Eastern Star. He was an elder in
the First Presbyterian Church Wellington since 1932, chairman of the church
building committee when the present First Presbyterian Church was
constructed and organized at the request of the Mayor, the Wellington
Traffic Safety committee and served as the chairman.  He was a past member
of the Wellington Planning Commission and served as Boy Scout Commissioner.
He was Senior Active member of the Wellington Rotary Club and past president
and secretary of the Rotary and Lions Club, Wellington.
    Survivors include a daughter, Miss Margaret Meierant of 1217 Paige,
Wichita; two sisters, Miss Anna Meierant and Mrs. Emma Lahr, both of
LaGrange, Mo.
    Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon at the First Presbyterian
Church, Wellington the Rev. William T. Soule, Winfield, Kansas officiated.
Entombment was in the Wellington memorial Mausoleum. Yost Funeral Home was
in charge of Arrangements.  (research note - Fred A. Meierant's widow, Rubye
Pearl Blanton, was the daughter of John Stephen Blanton and Nannie Rebecca
Jones.  She was the granddaughter of Benjamin F. "Frank" and Julia Ann
Blanton.  Her great-grandparents were Benjamin Edward Blanton and Mary
Feagans of Rutherford, N.C. and Fannin Co., TX pioneers, Stephen Fletcher
Blanton and Sarah McDaniel, who came to Texas from Rutherford Co., NC.)

Mrs. Fred A. Meierant
   Mrs. Fred A Meierant, 81 of 515 N. F Street, well-known and long time
resident of Wellington, died at 4:46 p.m. Tuesday in a local hospital.
    She was born Jan 16, 1892 at Whitewright, Tex. She was married to Fred
A. Meierant on Oct. 30,1915 at Amarillo, Tex. Mr. and Mrs. Meierant came to
Wellington on Jan 1, 1923 from Amarillo. She was a member of Winfield
Chapter Daughters of American Revolution; Order of Eastern Star, former
member of the Parliamentary Club, Cosmos Club, Tuesday Luncheon Club.  Mrs.
Meierant did office work for John Boyce Insurance Co. in Amarillo, and for
the Anamary Collett Insurance Agency, Wellington.
    Survivors include the husband of the home, a daughter, Margaret Ann
Meierant, Wichita, Kan., a brother Bert F. Blanton, Vernon, Tex., a sister
Margaret A. Jackson, Oklahoma City, Okla.
    Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church,
Wellington., the Rev. William L. Soule, Winfield, Kan., will officiate.
Entombment will be in Wellington Memorial Mausoleum. Friends may call at the
Yost Funeral Home Wednesday evening and Thursday morning until 12 noon.

daughter of John Stephen Blanton and Nannie Rebecca Jones.  She was the

MARGARET (Peggy) MEIERANT - Round Rock, Texas
   Margaret (Peggy) Meierant died yesterday at the Veteran's Administration
Hospital in Temple Texas. She was 59.
   Peggy was born Oct 19,1923 in Wellington, the daughter of the late Mr.
And Mrs. Fred Meierant.  She served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 20 years.
   She was a member of the Eastern Star and the D.A.R. of Wellington and St.
James Episcopal Church in Wichita.
   There are no immediate survivors.
   Military graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the
Capital Hill Cemetery in Austin. The military rites will be conducted by the
Marine Corp. from Austin. The Rev. Sidney Gervais will also officiate.
   A memorial has been established in her name with the American Cancer
Society. (research note - Margaret Meierant grandparents were John Stephen
Blanton and Nannie Rebecca Jones.  She was the great-granddaughter of
Benjamin F. "Frank" and Julia Ann Blanton.  Her great-great-grandparents
were Benjamin Edward Blanton and Mary Feagans of Rutherford, N.C. and Fannin
