ZONA LEVERETTE - Services for Zona Faye Leverette, 87-year-old retired cafeteria employee of Sherman, will be held at 2 p.m. today in Waldo Funeral Chapel.  She died Sunday at Medical Plaza Hospital.  The Revs. James Crawford of Calvary Baptist Church, Sid Hunter, former pastor of Calvary Baptist and Bill Knight of Hilltop Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Section of West Hill Cemetery.  Mrs. Leverette was born in Sherman, the daughter of George Rolen and Stella Killough Rolen.  She attended Bethany schools in Grayson County and on March 21, 1925, married Ottis G. Leverette. She had been employed as a cafeteria cook for the Sherman Independent School District and retired in 1969 after 13 years of service, most of the time at Sherman High School.  For several summers, she worked at Camp Rio Roxo, the Camp Fire Camp.  She was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church.  Surviving are her son, Ottis G. "Jim" Leverette of Sherman; daughters, Brenda Nobles of Sherman and Lillian Hardy of Garland; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.  Pallbearers will be Jackie Durley, Mike Bernard, Dan Drake, Mike Nalley, Harold Wagoner and Raymond Hodge.  Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Calvary Baptist Church.  The family will be at the Jim Leverette residence, Route 1, Sherman.  Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.  (Published in the Sherman Democrat newspaper, Sherman, Texas on Tuesday, March 10, 1994, page A6.)


BERTHA M. DUKE - SHERMAN - Funeral for Bertha M. Duke, 79, of Route 1, Sherman, who died Friday in a local hospital, will be at 11a.m. Monday in Dannel Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. James Crawford officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.  Mrs. Duke was born August 2, 1907, in Sherman, daughter of Simon and Stella Kellough Rolen. She married Roy Duke in February 1928 in Sherman.  Mrs. Duke attended Bethany schools and was a member of the Victory Baptist Church.  She worked for Carter Bag Company, Levi's and was employed by Pool Manufacturing for over 25 years.  Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Duke of Sherman and sister, Zona Leverette of Sherman.  The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 7 Sunday night and other times at the family residence.  (Published in the Sherman Democrat, page B-17 and the Denison Herald, page 2, September 19, 1986.)


ROY DUKE - Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Dannel and Horton Chapel for Roy Duke, 75, retired Hardwicke-Etter employee of Route 1, Sherman, who died Monday in a Sherman hospital.  Rev. James Causwell of Victory Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.  Born in Grayson County, he was the son of William and Rebecca Smith Duke, attended Grayson County schools and was married to Bertha Rolen in 1928. He had lived in Grayson County all of his life and was employed by Hardwicke-Etter 37 years. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church.  He is survived by his wife; daughter, Shirley Duke of Sherman; and a brother, Clyde Duke of Sherman.  The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and at other times at the residence, Route 1.


CLYTIE A. ROLEN WINGFIELD - Denison - Funeral for Clytie A. Rolen Wingfield, 93, who died June 5, 1994, at the Homestead Nursing Home, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bratcher Chapel.  The Revs. Ronnie Harris and Bill Rumsey will officiate.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Bratcher Funeral Home.  Mrs. Wingfield was born March 24, 1901, in Sulphur, Oklahoma, daughter of Birt and Maryetta (Henry) Rucker.  She married M.E. Rolan January 16, 1917 in Bonham.  He died in 1967.  She then married Tom Wingfield.  He also has preceded her in death.  She attended Grace Temple Baptist Church.  Survivors include five sons, Homer Rolen, Bob Rolen, Leroy Rolen, Birt Rolen all of Denison and Jack Rolen of Mt. Pleasant; 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.  Pallbearers will be Mark Snellgrove, Walter Snellgrove, Rick McAlister, Chad Rolen, Dan Rolen and Royce Chapman.  The family will be at Bratcher Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.  (Published in the Denison Herald newspaper, Denison, Texas, June 1994.)


EDNA BROUGHTON - Services for Mrs. Edna Valley Broughton, 86-year old housewife who died Thursday at a Sherman nursing home will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Waldo Funeral Chapel.  The Rev. R.M. Williams will officiate and burial will be in Cedarlawn Memorial Park.  Mrs. Broughton was born in Fannin County, a daughter of Eddie Samuel and Alice Kellough Rolen, and married Willie Henry Broughton on November 7, 1915 in Sherman.  She was a member of East Sherman Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 40 years.  Surviving are her son, David Broughton of Highland, Michigan; brother Roscoe Rolen of Leonard; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Pallbearers will be nephews: Jack Rolen, Bill Rolen, Homer Rolen, Don Rolen, Kenneth Rolen and Don Harvey.  The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday and other times at the Billy Harvey residence, 827 S. WILLIE BROUGHTON - Services tor Willie Henry Broughton of 918, S. Willow, 86-year-old retired City Water Department employee who died Wednesday (9-9-1983) at his residence, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. R.M. Williams of East Sherman Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be in Cedarlawn Memorial Park.  Mr. Broughton was born in Oklahoma, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Broughton, and married Edna Rolen November 7, 1915 in Sherman.  He was a World War I veteran.  He retired from the Sherman City Water Department in 1962 and was a member of East Sherman Baptist Church.  Surviving are his wife (Edna); son, David Broughton of Highland, Michigan; sisters, Mrs. Jimmie Baker of Sherman and Mrs. Clytie Winnfield of Denison; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Pallbearers will be Johnny Burleson, Don Harvey, Odie Jay, Jack Baldwin, George Cole and Rus Hightower.  The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday and other times at the residence.


WILLIE ELLEN "BILL" McHONE - SHERMAN -- Willie Ellen "Bill" McHone, 92-year-old Sherman resident, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2001 in Waldo Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Hubert Long officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. McHone was born on May 20, 1909, in Bells, Texas, the daughter of William Pink and Mary Isom Rolen. On November 25, 1924, she married James McHone in Grayson County. Surviving are her daughter, Coy Lea Farris of Wilburton, Okla.; grandchildren, Bobby Stanley and Billy Stanley, both of Sherman, Frank Stanley and Jimmy Stanley, both of Bonham, Jerry Stanley of Van Alstyne, Bertha White and Mary Ballard, both of Amarillo, and Shirley Quinn of Wilburton, Okla.; 27 great-grandchildren, 53 great-great-grandchildren and seven great-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; one brother; daughter, Audry Helen Nordel; and her husband, James Ellis McHone. Visitation will be at Waldo Funeral Chapel from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001. Memorials may be made to Home Hospice of Grayson County, P.O. Box 2306, Sherman, Texas 75091.


JAMES E. McHONE - Sherman - Funeral for James E. "Jim" McHone, 94, of Sherman who died June 9, 1994, at Wilson N. Jones Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Waldo Funeral Chapel.  The Rev. Stephen W. Holcombe of the North Park Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be in Cedarlawn Memorial Park.  McHone was born in Madison County, Arkansas, the son of Louis Newman McHone and Margaret Peters McHone.  He attended school in Trenton and married Willie Ellen Rolen on November 26, 1924 in Bells.  He was employed for several years by the Frisco Railroad in maintenance and later worked at Wilson N. Jones Hospital.  He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen and the North Park Baptist Church.  He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Coy Lee Farris of Sherman and Helen Nordell of Phoenix, Arizona; brother Ed McHone of Dallas; two sisters, Ora Walters of Bells, Ruby Scott of Fort Worth; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.  Pallbearers will be great-grandsons.  The family will be at the funeral home from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, and then at the McHone residence.  (Published in the Sherman Democrat newspaper, Sherman, Texas, Friday, June 10, 1994, page A12 and the Denison Herald newspaper, Denison, Texas the same day on page 2.)
