William Echols

William Echols Oxford enlisted
as a Private in Company A, Perrin's Mississippi Cavalry at Leake County,
Mississippi on 29 Dec
1863 and served till the end of the
war. He moved with his family to Texas after the war and resided in Sherman
Texas, from about 1874 to about 1915. He married Ada Burton in Sherman
on Jan 3, 1875. William was born Dec 28, 1845 in Winston County
Mississippi and died May 13 1929 in
Beaumont, Texas. He was a bookkeeper by trade and was listed as the Sherman
Assessor and Collector in the 1876 and 1887 city directories. The photo
of William was taken at the studios of Caradine and Cumming,
Artist-Photographers in Sherman. Date
unknown.
William Oxford is my Granduncle.
