DEATH OF SAM ROLEN - Mule Ran Away and He was Thrown From Buggy - The remains of S.F. Rolen, who was thrown from his buggy yesterday afternoon about 2 o'clock and instantly killed, were taken in charge by Jno. C. Dannell, funeral director. He had
been in the city yesterday and had gotten about three miles east of the city on his return trip homeward when the mule, which he was driving become frightened and he was thrown from the buggy. No one saw the accident but Dave Davis, colored, was the first to
him after the fall but Mr. Rolen was not able to speak and died almost instantly. The body was brought to the city soon after the occurrence and prepared for burial by Jno. C. Dannell, funeral director. There was no bruise whatever about the body other than a
fracture in the neck. The deceased was 68 years of age and moved to this county twenty years ago from Tennessee and had resided on his farm about five miles east of the city. He was an ex-Confederate veteran. He is survived by the wife, Mrs. S.F. Rolen and nine children as follows: Mrs. Mary Jane Nichols of Bowie, Mrs. Melvina Ivey of Commerce, Mrs. Nannie Baze of Morris, Oklahoma, J.E. (Elmer) Rolen of Bells, W.P. (Pink) Rolen, Richard Rolen, M.G. (Gordon) Rolen, S.E. (Samuel) Rolen, and G.B. (George) Rolen, the latter five all reside in and near this city. The funeral and interment will be at Bethany cemetery tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock.

1893. Born in Moore County, Tennessee, July 1843. Married Miss Catherine Prince, December 20, 1859. Wife born in Bedford County, Tennessee, February 11, 1838. Nine children: six boys, W.P. (William Pinkman), R. (Richard), M.G. (Mannie Gordon),G.B. (George Benjamin), S.E. (Samuel Edward) and J.E. (Joseph Elmer); three girls, Sarah (Melvina), Mary (Mary Jane) and Nancy E. (Nannie Emaline) College Park Precinct.
