S.
E. ROLEN - Samuel Eddie Rolen, an employee of the city sanitary department
for several years, died at his home at 921 North Broughton Street Sunday
evening at 9:20 (p.m.) o'clock following an illness of several weeks.
Mr. Rolen had lived in Sherman for the past 10 years and near Sherman for
30 years. He was a native of Tennessee. Surviving him are his wife
(Mrs. Alice Rolen) and four children. The children are M. E. Rolen, Roy
Rolen, Roscoe Rolen and Mrs. Edna Broughton, all of Sherman. Funeral
services were held on Monday afternoon at 3 (p.m.) o'clock from the late
home, conducted by the Rev. C. L. O'Bryan. Burial was in Bethany
Cemetery, east of Sherman. (published in the Sherman Daily Democrat,

MRS.
ALICE WHITE ROLEN - Mrs. Alice White Rolen, 57, died at 6:25 (a.m.) o'clock
Tuesday morning at the residence at 518 South Throckmorton street.
Mrs. Rolen has been a resident of Sherman for seventeen years and was a
member of the North Park Baptist church. She was born in Arkansas, September
10, 1873. Surviving are three sons, M. E. and Roy Rolen
of Sherman and Roscoe Rolen of Trenton; one daughter, Mrs. W. H.
Broughton of Sherman; three sisters, Mrs. M. G. Rolen and Mrs. Simon Rolen
of Sherman, and Mrs. G. W. lvey of Oklahoma City, and one brother, Burr
Kellough of Bells. Her husband (Samuel Edward Rolen) died in 1924.
The funeral services will be held at 3:30 (p.m.) o'clock Wednesday afternoon
from the residence, conducted by the Rev. Claude Johnston, pastor of the
North Park Baptist church, who will be assisted by the Rev. S. F. Ross
of the East Sherman Baptist church. Interment will be in Bethany Cemetery.
The Dannel-Scott funeral home is directing the arrangements. (published

ROLEN - George Benjamin Rolen, 69, died Friday at 3:30 a.m., at his home
at 806 East Pacific following an illness of two weeks. The son of
Mr. and Mrs. S.F. Rolen, he was born Nov. 24, 1875 at Giles (County), Tenn.,
moving to Grayson county in 1892 where he married the former Miss Stella
Killough on August 27 of the following year. A member of the Baptist
church, he was engaged in farming here for a number of years. Survivors
include his wife; three sons, Swafford Rolen of Sherman, Ray Rolen of Denison
and Leonard Rolen of Pueblo, Colorado; two daughters, Mrs. Ottis (Zona)
Leverette and Mrs. Roy (Bertha) Duke, both of Sherman; two brothers, Pink
Rolen of Bells and J.E. (Elmer) Rolen of Sherman; 17 grandchildren and
11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday at 3 p.m.
at his home with the Rev. Ray Short and the Rev. J.E. King conducting.
Interment will be at Bethany cemetery under the direction of Talley.
Pallbearers will be Albert Ray, Mrs. Roscoe, Robert Rolen, Frank Alexander
and Willis Vincent.

Notices - Rites Set Wednesday for Mrs. Stella Rolen - Funeral services
will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Calvary Baptist Church for Mrs. Stella
Rolen, 76, wife of the late G.L. (George B.) Rolen. She was a native
of Little Rock, Arkansas and came to Grayson County as a small child.
Rev. John King, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, will conduct the
services, assisted by Rev. Ray Short, Baptist minister. Burial will
be in the Bethany Cemetery, directed by Barrett Funeral Home. Pallbearers
will be Charles Rolen, Jim Leverett, Cecil Rolen, Gean Hartfield, Billy
Hardy, James Sinclair and Earl Brown. The body was taken to the home,
Sherman, Route 1, where it will remain until time for services. Mrs. Rolen
made her home with her daughter, Mrs. O.G. (Zona) Leverette, Sherman, Route
1. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include
two daughters, Mrs. (Zona) Leverette and Mrs. Roy (Bertha) Duke of Sherman;
three sons, S.L. (Swafford) Rolen of Bells, Leonard Rolen of Dallas, Ray
Rolen of Denison; a half-sister, Mrs. Bessie Garrett (Jarrett) of Oklahoma
City; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

E. ROLEN - J. E. Rolen, 68, retired Frisco employee, died at his home,
1215 South Montgomery, Monday, at 1 a. m. after an illness of six weeks.
Funeral services will be held at the Waldo Funeral Chapel, Tuesday at 2:30
p.m. The Rev. Jack Selcraig, pastor of the Forest Avenue Baptist
Church, will conduct. Pallbearers will be A. A. O'Gorman, James Easley,
R. L. Skaggs, Luther Gray, Charlie Clayton and Leon Shillings. Burial will
be in Bethany Cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home until
time for services. Mr. Rolen was born at Bryan, Tennessee, March
2, 1880, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Rolen. He was married to
Vallie Dee Kellough in Grayson County, September 23, 1897.
She died in 1913. He retired as a Frisco employee in 1934 because of ill
health. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include:
a son, Robert N. Rolen, Sherman; three daughters, Mrs. F. T. Gattis, Wichita
Falls, Mrs. Cleo Gaines, Sherman and Mrs. L. C. Skaggs, Waco and seven
