Joshua Ryon
Obituary of Joshua Ryon written by Alfred J. Connelly (aka Wildcat Connelly), Bonham News, Mar 1892
Died, at his home near Whitewright, on the 22 Inst., Joshua Ryon, in his 89th years, he came from Kentucky to Texas in 1852. His remains were taken through the portal of his home where he had ruled as husband, father, and friend, followed by the stricken ones, and interred in the Kentuckytown Cemetery, Eld. J.W. Connelley conducted the funeral services. His misson on earth was finished , he obed the summons of that almighty power that rules the universe and joined the hosts that move in the silent halls of the city of the dead. The The moon and star will bathe the lap of the earth will mellow light, the night birds will chant their songs unrestrained above his head. One by one the old landmarks are passing away, yet there lay a beauty in death when it taps gently at the time-worn door and proclaims the freedom of the spirit from the old tabernacle after a long and well spent life."
