   Monger School

Located one mile east of Sandy Springs.  Mark Monger gave the land on which the school was built for as long a the land was used for school purposes.

The school was established 1896 when there were no "grades".  Pupils bought the books that they wanted to study from.

John Foster was one of the early teachers.  A copy of his contract reads :
"I, John Foster, agree to teach Monger Schoo for a fivve-months term for forty dollars per month, and I will fu rnish the wood and the crayons."

The original school building burned in 1901; a new building was built in time for the 1902 school year.

Trustees included Mark Monger and Mr. Scarborough.

Monger School consolidated with Sandy Springs School in 1935.
