Services for Marvin Lee Tate, 69, of Sherman who died January 9 at Medical Plaza Hospital were held at 2:30 p.m. January 11 in Forest Avenue Baptist Church.  The Rev. Jeff Reid of the church officiated.  Arrangements were by Millican-Little Funeral Home in Bells.
Mr. Tate was born in Collin County, the son of Edwin and Nora Tate.  On Aug. 2, 1942, he married Dorothy Robertson in Madill, Okla.
A World War II Army veteran, he saw duty in the European Theater and the Southwest Pacific.  He was a self-employed independent oil producer in Borger for 30 years, and a member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, sons, James Marvin Tate of Howe and Walter Tate of Midland; daughter, Christie Lynn Ellis of Plano; brothers, James Tate of Sherman, Chester Tate of Farmers Branch and Troy Tate of Lubbock; sister, Helen Miller of Sherman and Dorothy Cushman of Dallas; and three grandchildren.
