in
West Hill Cemetery
from : Catherine Caldwell
Excerpt taken from the Black
Friday book about West Hill Cemetery
Read a newspaper
article about that day.
"Tombstones of great size and height were blown to the ground,
and many of them were shattered. A piece two feet long from a marble shaft
was found a mile north. ....At one grave the stone was blown down and a
delicated vase of flowers was left sitting on the mound, at another, iron
vessels were carried away while delicated rose bowls were left."
