H.D. Harrison
April 1, 1928 - August 27, 2009

H.D. Harrison, Jr., born April 1, 1928, left this world Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Hilltop Haven Nursing Home in Gunter.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Alma Harrison; brother, Billy; and sisters, Mary and Rita. 
He was a member of the 160th Heavy Mortar Division of the United States Army during the Korean War.  He has worked for Sherman Steel and Wire.  Also was self-employed doing carpentry work.  He was a member of GISD for 31 years.  He was also a member of the Valley Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Arvella, two sons, Roger and Jean Harrison; Dennis Harrison, all of Gunter; four grandchildren, Kendal and Krystal Harrison; Shanna, Sarah, and Hannah Harrison; one great-grandson, Brayden Harrison; four brothers, Tom Harrison of Quinlin; Clyde Harrison of Fruitvale; Charlie Harrison of Gunter; Bob Harrison also of Gunter; two sisters, Lula Morris of Sherman; and Doris Pelt of Frisco; one sister-in-law, Helen Harrison. 
Graveside services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, August 31, 2009 at Whitaker Cemetery in Gunter under the direction of Flesher Funeral Home.  Tex Monk will officiate.  Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home in Van Alstyne.
