The week of Sunday, April 27th through Sunday, May 4th, 2014, the Genealogical Society of Kendall County is planning a trip to Salt Lake City to visit the Family History Library. If you would like to go, please contact Gwen Adrian (249-2085) or Carol Westermeier (249-7084) for needed information. A few rooms are still available in the Plaza Hotel that is next door to the Family History Library. The cutoff date for our group reservations is March 27, 2014. There are other hotels in the city, but none are as convenient as the Plaza. As you may know, the Family History Library offers the world’s greatest wealth of genealogical information. The resources are accessible to the novice and to the advanced genealogist, and the Library personnel are very helpful and ready to answer your questions. The week offers the opportunity to learn more about our family history and also time to socialize with our fellow travelers. Additionally, beautiful Temple Square offers the opportunity to enjoy some wonderful music, including free daily thirty minute noon organ concerts and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Saturday, 15 March, meeting at 10:00 AM at The Patrick Health Public Library. Brooks Boye will speak on ways to share family history with our family, and why it is important. Brooks will show examples of what he and his family have created. The Genealogical Society of Kendall County invites you to come and enjoy “A Present to Family” by Brooks Boye.
Daughters of the Republic of Texas comes to GSKC on March 22, 1:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. Do you think you had an ancestor in Texas before 1845? Have you ever wanted to join the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT)? NOW is your chance! The Joshua D. They will work with all who are interested from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. All are welcome to come and have these ladies help you to join this esteemed organization. Ladies from the area (Bandera, Fair Oaks, Canyon Lake, Kendalia, Comfort) are welcomed to join this chapter and will receive information on research as well as the time and place of their monthly meetings. This chapter is known for their period costumes and education of Texas history during the early settlement of Texas. They are also known for their leadership in the state organization.
