The genealogy collection contains approximately 1200 books collected over a period of many years. Noted in The Genealogical Society Newsletter of April, 1982 is the following statement: "A Book committee was organized with Kate Skinner-Klee as chairperson. She is working with the public librarian, Mary Brady, to improve the genealogy section at the Boerne Public Library." At that time there were only a few books in the Reference Section of the Library.

When the Library moved to its present location on North Main Street, the genealogy collection grew to about 250 books as BAHPS combined its collection of books with the existing collection to form a room sized section designated by the Library to be the History-Genealogy Room.

The collection continued to grow from donations by appreciative users who donated books they no longer needed or which no longer fit their research needs. Memorial donations to The Historical Society and to the Genealogy Society have enabled them to add many valuable books. The Genealogy Society became a larger group in the year 1998. At that time the group expanded its attention to this collection of books by making book purchase a budget item.

The genealogy collection is housed in the Boerne Public Library (210 N. Main, Boerne, Texas).

Library hours are: Monday-Tuesday 9-8, Wednesday-Thursday 9-6, Friday 9-5, and Saturday 9-3. The library is closed Sundays and Holidays. Check the library's website <http://www.boerne.lib.tx.us/> for holiday closings.

Donations of new or gently-used books are always welcomed. You may send or bring them to the Boerne Public Library. Please indicate that your donation is for the Genealogy Collection. Thank you very much for your support.
