History and Mission

The Czech Heritage Society of Texas was founded October 30, 1982 in Taylor Texas, and celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2007. The mission of the Czech Heritage Society is to preserve and promote the genealogy, history, heritage, culture and language of Czechs and Czech Moravians of Texas.

The Harris County Chapter of the Czech Heritage Society of Texas was organized in 1985 and is a non-profit 501(c)(3) member-supported organization.

The Harris County Chapter CHS is dedicated to the study and preservation of Czech genealogy, history, culture and language. In partnership with the State CHS organization, Harris County members voluntarily staff and maintain the Czech Heritage Society of Texas Library and Archives, which provides space and resource materials for hands-on research.
