The Harris County Chapter CHS is dedicated to the study and preservation of Czech genealogy, history, culture and language. While books and archives belonging to the state CHS organization have been moved to the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center in La Grange, the Harris County Chapter continues to maintain significant research materials at the HCC Library at 4117 Willowbend Blvd. in Houston, equal to the quality of research materials that have been removed. Harris County Chapter members voluntarily staff and maintain the Library and Archives, providing resources and personalized help for hands-on research. With your support and the continued success of our annual Czech SpringFest and Soup Tasting, we will maintain our Chapter building and Library to support your interest in genealogical research and our Czech heritage. NEW! Membership Meeting, November 8, 2-5 pm James (Jim) Kovar, president of the Fayette County chapter, is our guest speaker. His subject will be Tektites, which are earthen materials that have been crystallized from a meteoric impact. These tektites have been discovered in only a few places in the world, including the Czech Republic and Texas. Jim will bring part of his exhibit for us to view and discuss. Watch for More Information! Painted Churches Bus Trip Plans are being made for a bus trip to visit various of the Texas 'Painted Churches'. The trip is tentatively scheduled for March 2010.
