Wilted Lettuce

Place 1 or 2 heads of lettuce and 1 sweet onion (chopped) into salad bowl. Fry 4 slices of diced bacon until crisp. Add:

½ cup vinegar
¼ cup water
2 Tbsp. sugar
½ tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper

Bring to a boil. Pour hot mixture over lettuce and onion. Serve immediately.
