First Families of Hill County, Texas (1853-1903) Certificates
About 120 new First Families of Hill County, Texas certificates will be presented during the Hillsboro Sesquicentennial Celebration on Sunday, September 14,th 2003. Qualifying applicants who submitted applications by July 15th will be recognized at that time. The presentation ceremony will be held in conjunction with The Founderís Day program that begins at 1:30 p. m. in the 66th District Courtroom in the Hill County Courthouse in Hillsboro, Texas.
Ninety-four pioneer families of Hill County were recognized and remembered at the First Families of Hill County, Texas presentation ceremony Saturday, May 24th. One hundred and sixty-six certificates had been issued at that time.
The Hill County Genealogical Society issues commemorative certificates to individuals who provide satisfactory proof they descended from at least one person who resided in Hill County at any time during the period 1853-1903. Qualifying historical family information submitted by applicants will be placed in the Hillsboro City Library.

One tip: for generation #1 on page 3 be sure to include a marriage license to verify a womanís name change.
First Families of Hill County, Texas is an on-going project of the HCGS and we will continue to accept applications and award certificates to those who qualify after the July 15th deadline. It is not necessary to be a member of the Hill County Genealogical Society to apply.
