The Hill County Genealogical Society is sponsoring a Genealogy Workshop Saturday, August 25th, at the North Texas Airstream Community in Hillsboro from 10AM to 3:30PM.  The morning session will be presented by Bill Buckner, District 12 Representative of the Texas State Genealogical Society and Director of the Waco-McLennan County Genealogical Library in Waco.  It will cover the basics of Genealogy.  Although advertised as a “Beginners” research, there is always something new for seasoned genealogists to learn.  The morning session will run from 10 to 12.

There will be an hour and a half break for lunch.  There is a variety of eating establishments along SH 22 close to NTAC.  NTAC is located on 200 Walnut Hill Avenue just South of SH 22 and the Walnut Street Baptist Church.  Instead of turning North to go to Hill College you turn South to go to NTAC.  There is a sign on the road indicating where to enter NTAC.  As you go through the gate there is a large parking lot on the right and the large building on the left is where the meeting will be held in the west end of the building.

The afternoon instructor will be Lou Svach of the Bosque County Genealogical Society who will discuss the various Genealogical Websites and the new release of the 1940 US Census.  You are welcome to bring your “lap top”; however, if you need an electrical hookup. it may not be available.  This session will run from 1:30 to 3:30.

There is no charge for this event; however, it would be appreciated if you would call or email and reserve a seat.  The individual speakers will have handouts and we need to know how many chairs and tables will be needed.  The response has already been very good as some of you have already let us know you are coming.

There will be coffee, tea, and water to drink.  Any other beverage you will need to bring your own.  HCGS members are asked to contribute snack food ==donuts, cookies, finger sandwiches, chips, etc.

You may contact me at the email or telephone at the bottom of this email.   Please express your thanks to the NTAC folks for letting us use their facility for this workshop.  Look forward to sharing with you on Saturday, August 25th!

Best Wishes,
