FRANK McDONALD

 

Hillsboro--Honorable Frank G. McDonald, 85, of Waco died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at his residence.  Services will be at 2 p. m., Sunday, Feb. 10 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Hillsbor with the Rev. Stephen A. Hart, Hon. F. B. “Bob” McGregor Jr., Hon. Rex Davis and Msgr. Mark Deering officiating.  Burial will be at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p m, Saturday at the St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Parsonage where his body will lie in state from 11 a. m. until service time.

  Frank G. McDonald was born April 9, 1916, in Meridian, Bosque County, Texas the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. J. Frank McDonald.  He is married to the former Louise Vanderford of Aquilla in Hill County.  He is a graduate of Hillsboro High School; Hillsboro Junior College, where he served as president of the student body; Baylor University; Texas University Law School; and the Command and General Staff College of the Army.  He is licensed to practice before the Texas and U. S. Supreme Courts.  He practiced law in Hillsboro from 1938 to 1940.  He is a veteran of WW II, serving in the Army for 67 months, 30 months overseas in Africa and Europe, participating in all campaigns in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations. He entered the service as a combat infantryman Oct. 5, 1938, and was honorably discharged as Lt. Col. April 9, 1976.  He received the Legion of Merit and 11 other decorations.  Subsequent to WW II, he advanced to Brevet Brigadier General in the Texas National Guard.
