Funeral services for William H. Herrin, 71, who died at his home in Mertens Friday were held at the Mertens Baptist church Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock, with Rev. Herschel Hall, pastor of the Mertens Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. Standlee, a former pastor. Interment was in Richland Cemetery under the direction of the McMormick funeral Home of Frost.

Active pallbearers were Perry Yarbrough, Willie Elmorex, Ben Whitson, Joe Goodman, Ernest Mays and Roy Buie.

Mr. Herrin was a native of Alabama. He had resided in the Mertens section many years and was one of the leading farmers and land owners in that area.

He is survived by his wife; two sisters, Mrs. W. L. Pevehouse of Blooming Grove, and Mrs. V. C. Hill of Dallas; five brothers, Wallace Herrin of McCauley, R. M. Herrin of Mertens, L. M. Herrin of Techuacana, George R. and Floyd Herrin of Italy, and a number of nieces and nephews.
