Nile Markum died Dec. 24, 1934
Hillsboro Evening Mirror Obituary notice dated Dec. 26, 1934:
Nile Markum, former citizen of the Bynum community, passed away in Fort Worth
at 10:25 o'clock Monday night, December 24, aged 39 years. Mr. Markum's death
came rather unexpectedly as he was ill but for a few days, his death resulting
from pneumonia. The remains were brought overland to Hillsboro Tuesday morning
and prepared for burial and later taken to the residence of his brother, Jesse
Markum, near Bynum. Funeral services were held at the Bynum Church of Christ
at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternon. Elder W.D. Black, minister of the West Church
of Christ, officiating. Interment was in Brandon cemetary under the direction
of Marshall & Marshall. Active pallbearers were: Martin House, Buck Burnett,
Forest Burnett, Frank Johnson, Charlie Burgess and O. Burgess. Surviving are
five brothers, Nollie of Abbott, R.R. of Ft. Worth, H.C. of Brandon, T.L. of
Irene, and J.T. of Bynum, one sister, Mrs. O.T. White of Huntsville. Mr.
Markum was the son of the late I.G. Markum, who passed away on Christmas Day,
1932.
