Hubbard Youth is accidently killed Friday ( Hubbard paper)
Funeral services will be held from the Hubbard Baptist Church Sunday at 2:30 pm
for Sherman Baker ,age 15, who was accidently killed early Friday afternoon at
the home of a friend. The rites will be conducted by Rev. Sam Cluck,pastor.
The friend, Billy Dean Watson,16,told investigaters he was in another room and
heard a shot.He said he heard Baker call out and then heard him fall to the
floor.Watson said a rifle had been standing in the corner of the room behind the
couch.
J. Nolan Murphy,justice of the peace, ruled the death accidental. He said the
boy apparently reached over to get the gun and it discharged ,hitting him in the
chest.
Survivng are the parents,Mr and Mrs Dillard Baker, of Hubbard,two sisters, Mrs
Manisa Woodridge of Ft Worth, and Mrs Deloris Bacon of Corpus Christi,six
brothers,Robert,Edward,Alvie,Other Payne,Marvin,and Clyde Allen,all of Ft Woth
and Boyce Baker of Hubbard.
