Mrs. Mollie Bragg Holmes

Funeral services for Mrs. Mollie Bragg Holmes, aged 88 years and 9 months, formerly of Peoria, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John A. Stockton, at Stephenville Friday afternoon, February 6, at 2 p m were held at the Peoria Methodist Church Saturday afternoon, February 7, with Rev. H. A. Nichols, pastor of the Methodist church at Chillicothe, officiating.

Interment was in the Peoria Cemetery with her grandsons as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were: Clarence Bledsoe, Bragg Atshison, Lephus Atchison, Malcolm Cliett, P. W. Cliett, Pat Dillard, Will Dilllard, Davis Gage, John Reed, Cooper Johnson, Dow Barnett, Will Barnett, Guy Roberson and Tom Hickey.

Mrs. Holmes was the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Louis Hickey, and was born at the Hickey Homestead on Jack’s Branch, adjoining the Hickey Cemetery, which was donated by Rev. Hickey.

She was married to Joe Bragg in 1871, and they were parents of seven children, four of whom survive are, Tom Bragg of Merkel, Ben Bragg of near Hillsboro, Joe of Dallas and Mrs. Lillie Stockton of Stephenville. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

After her marriage to Mr. Bragg, the deceased resided most of her life at Peoria. Early in life Mrs. Holmes was converted and united with the Methodist church, and lived a life of Christian service.

Some twenty years ago she was married to W. K. Holmes and they moved to Glen Rose until his death, and in recent years she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Stockton.
