Mrs. Mary Ann Garrett

Mrs. Mary Ann Garrett, widow of the late George Hughes Garrett, passed away at her home, 109 Francis Street, at 3:50 o’clock Monday morning, September 3, 1945, aged 91 years.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church at 5 o’clock Tuesday afternoon conducted by Dr. R E Day and assisted by Rev. Thos. B. Granger.

Interment was in the Hickey Cemetery.

Mrs. Garrett was born April 8, 1854 in Blount County, Alabama. She was married to G. H. Garrett August 29, 1880 at Summitt, Alabama. They came to Texas and Hill County in 1897 and she had continued to reside in this county since and for many years in Hillsboro. Mr. Garrett passed away August 17, 1940.

She united with the Baptist Church in early life and had been a member of the First Baptist Church of this city for many years..

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Maude Barnes, Mrs. Taylor Cybert and Mrs. Asa Smith of Hillsboro; three sons, George and Russell Garrett of Fort Worth and Ed Garrett of Hillsboro; thirty one grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren.

Twelve grandsons are serving in the Armed Forces.
