Mrs. R. M. Smith

September 12, 1894--MERTENS

The death angel has visited our little town, this time claiming Mrs. R. M. Smith, whose spirit winged its night about 3:30 p. m. yesterday (Sunday) and her body was laid to rest in the Milford cemetery today. She was a victim of that dread disease, consumption, from which she has suffered for 16 months. Although suffering greatly at times, she was always patient demonstrating the religion of Him who said “Come unto to me all you that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest”, having been a consistent member of the M. E. Church South for twenty years, the King of terrors did not affright her, remaining consoloda nearly to the last, she admonished all around her to meet her in heaven. She leaves a husband and nine children to mourn her death. We say to them, not to weep as those who have no hope for, “behind the darkest cloud, the sun is shining”, and away off in the home of the blest, dear wife and Mother is beckoning them to come.
