Mr. W. C. Herring

August 29, 1894 DIED

At his home on South Waco Street in this city Monday, at three o’clock, Mr. W. C. Herring died, aged 49 years, 10 months, and 5 days.

Mr. Herring was taken sick Sunday night very suddenly with congestion, the doctors were summoned and all was done for him that could be done, but it seemed that nothing would stay the disease. Many of his friends were not apprised if his sickness until they saw the notice of his funeral and were greatly shocked.

He leaves a wife and seven children, six sons and one daughter to mourn his taking away. These bereaved ones have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in Hill County, who also cherish his memory. Deceased died with a Christian’s hope having been a member of the church for 23 years. He was born in the state of Illinois but had been a citizen of Hill County for 40 years, living on a farm near Peoria, and for a few years was engaged in the mercantile business in Hillsboro.

The remains were interred in the cemetery at Peoria yesterday attended by a large concourse of friends. Rev. J. D. Bailey conducted the service.
