REMAINS OF MRS. BURKS ARRIVED TUESDAY

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR FORMER HILLSBORO WOMAN WHO DIED IN LUBBOCK TO BE HELD WEDNESDAY

Mrs. Willie Burks, wife of Ollie Burks of Lovington, N.M., passed away in Lubbock, Tex. at 8:10 Monday morning Feb. 20, aged 31 years. The remains arrived over the Katy at 10:10 Tuesday morning and were taken to the residence of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Winters on West Elm street, and will remain there until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Burks was born near Peoria, Hill County March 17th, 1901 and had lived in and around Hillsboro practically all of her life. She received her education in the Hillsboro schools and was married to Ollie Burks, Aug. 17, 1921.

She and Mr. Burks had been residing in Lovington, N.M. since 1930. Mrs. Burks was converted and united with the First Methodist church, Cleburne, when a young girl; later moving her membership to the Line Street Methodist church where it remained until her death.

Surviving are her husband, Ollie Burks, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Winters of Hillsboro, one brother, Odell Winters of Hillsboro and six children: Edith LaVerne, Chas. Wilburn, Billie, Joe, Ollie Eugene and Perry Odell.

Funeral services for Mrs. Willie Burks, wife of Ollie Burks, who died in Lubbock, Tex., at 8:10 Monday morning, February 20, aged 31 years, 11 months and 3 days, were held at the Line Street Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock with Revs. W. J. Hearon and E. W. Bridges officiating. Interment was in Ridge Park cemetery.

Active pall bearers were: Joe Goodman, Ned Campbell, Robert Erwin, Johnnie Vlahakos, Billie Mabry and Delmar Garner.

A large crowd attended the service, attesting the esteem in which deceased was held.
