Hill County, Texas Heritage Book, Volume II
The deadline for submitting stories for Volume II of The Heritage of Hill County, Texas, book has been extended to September 1, 2009. “Many more stories about families, communities, churches and memories of growing up in Hill County are needed to make Volume II a success,” according to Richard Greenhill. Stories on veterans of Hill County will be in special sections.
Any one who lives in Hill County or has ancestors from Hill County is invited to write a story for Volume II. There is no charge to submit an article. “We need to get more people interested in this project,” said Richard Greenhill.

Family Stories, Military Service and Topical Stories

Every family’s story is important. Make sure your family story is included in Volume II of The Heritage of Hill County, Texas. Whether you are from a pioneer family or one who arrived in the 21st century, we need your story to make this grass-roots history book complete.
September 1, 2009 is the last deadline to submit an article. We would like to complete the book this year, but we need more articles on every topic to make that possible. “Just write up what you know or remember in your own words. Those make the best stories,” according to Mollie Stinson, publicity chairman. “This is your chance to record the fact that your family lived in Hill County.”
Stories of military service (500 words), are needed for the book. Topical subjects include cities and towns (750 words), historical events, churches, memories, businesses, clubs, schools, cemeteries (250 words), and others Families who came to Hill County after 1903 are allowed 500 words and one photograph at no cost. Pioneer family stories (in Hill County before 1903) may be 1,000 words and have two photographs or one large photo. There is no charge to have a story included in the book.
Volume II is a follow-up to the first Heritage of Hill County, Texas book which was published in 2006. Stories and photographs published in the first volume will not be reprinted in Volume II. You may, however, expand upon your family story placed in Volume I.
Articles should be typed or computer generated before they are sent to the printer. However, if that is impossible for you, we still want your story. Send in a legible, handwritten article and we will transcribe it for you.
