Hill County Genealogical Society

P.O. Box 636

Hillsboro, Texas 76645

Due to Labor Day being the first Monday in September and a holiday for most, the Hill County Genealogical Society will hold its next meeting on Monday, August 31st, at 6:30 pm in the Hill County Courthouse Annex located at 126 South Covington Street in Hillsboro.  All members are urged to attend and bring a guest.  Mrs. Judy Knight, Professional Genealogist from Arlington, will again be with us.  At the July meeting Mrs. Knight gave us many tips on Internet Research.  She was unable to give us the planned program, due to unforeseen circumstances, and will return to discuss “More Than Name, Rank And Serial Number” with regard to researching military records.  Mrs. Knight has become a very popular speaker for our group.

September 1st has been announced as the deadline for submitting stories and photos for Volume II of “The Heritage of Hill County, Texas” book to be published by Christmas.  There is still a need for stories.  This is the final extension.  You may bring your items to this meeting to submit to Richard Greenhill and Roy Bessire and their committee.  If you would like to help proof read and/or type, help is always needed.

Please contact Cleo Young Davis, VP/Program Chairman, at 254-582-3603 and leave a message, which will be answered after 6 PM.  Membership is open to anyone interested in genealogy and history.  There will be no September meeting.  The next meeting will be the first Monday in October.
