Charles W. Ingram
Charles W. Ingram was the son of Joseph
Gaston Ingram. Joseph Epheldred
Ingram and Charles W. were brothers. They also had a
brother named Robert
that married Matilda unknown. Two sisters, Nancy and
Charity. Nancy
married 1st George Aaron, 2nd Darien Hodge. Charity married
Absolum Foster,
in Sumter Co AL in 1841. There may have been one other
brother, William.
These siblings are children of Joseph Gaston Ingram and his
second wife (he
was married 3 times and had 32/33 children). JGI was born
in Virginia and
died in Covington Co MS. It is said that he lived to be
over 100 years.
I descend from his third wife, Eleander
"Ely Ann" Tyler. JGI was a Methodist
minister, circuit rider. It is said that his circuit was
the bordering
counties of south central MS and AL, thus the reason that he
seemed to be
constantly on the move. I first found him in 1820 in
Covington Co MS, 1830
he is in Marengo Co AL, 1840 in Washington Co, AL, 1850 in Newton
Co MS and
back 'home' to Covington Co MS in 1860, where he died about
1881. He was
buried in family plot in a field called the Ingraham
Cemetery.
Unfortunately, the land was later sold and the owner 'pushed off'
the land
to make grazing land. No visible sign of the little buriel ground
exists.
