W. C. Smith

W. C. Smith was born on Walnut Creek in the county Feb. 2, 1855. He is the son of Eli Smith one of the pioneers of the county, and whose name is mentioned often in the annals of the county from the prominent part he took in the development and first settlement of the county. His father came to Texas in 1849.

W. C. Smith was raised here and has been engaged in farming, stock raising and mercantile business. He has been married twice. The first wife was a Miss Mary Tanner, sister of Lon Tanner of Malakoff. The present wife was a Miss Ramsey. There were four children by the first marriage and one by the second. Mr. Smith is one of the leading citizens of Malakoff, has large stock and farming interest, and does a grocery and feed business at Malakoff. That he is a good man, a good citizen and an honor to his country, is recognized by all who know him.
