Obituary of Marshall & Kathleen Armstrong

Marshall Armstrong

ROPESVILLE (Special) - Services for Marshall Armstrong, 93, of Ropesville will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ropesville's First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark McMillan, pastor of First Baptist Church in Wolfforth, officiating and Greg Kinch, pastor, assisting.

Burial will be in Ropesville Cemetery under direction of Franklin-Barley Funeral Home.

He died Sunday, April 5, 1998, in Brownfield Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Lampasas County and has lived in Ropesville since 1923. He was a retired farmer and served as Precinct 1 Hockley County justice of the peace from 1980 to 1994. He was a longtime member and deacon of Ropesville First Baptist Church. He served on the Ropes school board. He was a member of the Meadow Masonic Lodge, the Order of the Eastern Star, and Ropes Senior Citizens. He was a former member of the Ropes Lions Club.

He married Kathleen Latham on April 6, 1929, in Levelland. She died June 7, 1997.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1925-27.

Survivors include two daughters, Charleen Pettiet and Sandra McNabb, both of Ropesville; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Kathleen Armstrong

ROPESVILLE (Special) - Services for Kathleen Armstrong, 86, of Ropesville will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Ropesville First Baptist Church with the Revs. Mark McMillan, pastor of First Baptist Church in Wolfforth, officiating. Greg Kinch, pastor, and John H. Johns, a retired Baptist minister, will assist.

Burial will be in Ropesville Cemetery under direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.

She died Saturday, June 7, 1997, at a daughter's residence.

She was born in Cherokee County. She moved to Ropesville from Rusk County in 1924. She was a member of Ropesville First Baptist Church, Ropesville Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Ropesville Birthday Club and Ropesville Home Demonstration Club. She married Marshall Armstrong on April 6, 1929, in Levelland.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Charleen Pettiet and Sandra McNabb, both of Ropesville; three sisters, Fairy Rogers of Henderson, Louise Ferguson of Hereford and Evelyn Milner of Vernon; two brothers, Marcus Latham and Ross Latham, both of Hereford; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
